Ofsted Monitoring Visit
Ofsted Inspection 4th & 5th December 2024
This inspection was a monitoring visit following our full Ofsted Inspection in September 2023. During this monitoring visit Ofsted reported on progress towards the four areas identified as areas for improvement within the full inspection.
Valley College was able to receive one of three judgements under this monitoring visit for each of these areas.
Insufficient Progress: progress has been either slow or insubstantial or both, and the demonstrable impact on learners has been negligible.
Reasonable Progress: the provider’s actions are already having a beneficial impact on learners, and improvements are sustainable and are based on the provider’s thorough Quality Assurance procedures.
Significant Progress: progress has been rapid and is already having considerable beneficial impact on learners.
Monitoring visits resulting in significant progress judgements are ‘fairly rare’ therefore Valley College is extremely pleased to receive a judgement of Significant Progress for each of the four areas.

This was the first graded inspection for Valley College and took place two weeks into a new academic year 2023. At the time of this inspection, a third of the learner population were new to college and two tutors were new in post. You will see this context referenced in the report.
During the inspection, inspectors gathered feedback from advocates and learners, and the inspectors shared that this feedback was exceptionally positive. We are immensely pleased that our stakeholders believe the educational offer at Valley College meets their needs.
You will see from the report, that the overall grading for Valley College is ‘Requires Improvement’ however, Personal Development and Behaviour and Attitudes are graded as Good.
Our ‘move to good’ plans have commenced, and we look forward to Ofsted carrying out a ‘monitoring visit’ within 7-13 months, so that we can showcase progress made towards the four identified areas for improvement.
